Recently, BYD Destroyer 07, which was unveiled at the Shanghai International Auto Show, was officially named Seal DM-i and will be launched in August this year.

The new car is positioned as a medium-sized sedan. According to BYD’s product line pricing strategy, the price range of the new car may be in the range of 160,000 to 250,000 CNY.

In terms of appearance size, the wheelbase of Seal DM-i is 2900mm, and in terms of overall vehicle size, it is also larger than Seal EV.

For the front part, Seal DM-i still uses BYD’s “Ocean Aesthetics” design concept. As a hybrid model, the new car uses a borderless grille shape. The entire grille is in the shape of an inverted ladder, composed of several horizontal lines, which increases the visual width and thickness of the front of the car.

In the headlight part, the headlights of the new car are slender and connected with the daytime running lights, making the daytime running lights appear L-shaped.

On the side of the body, thanks to its longer body length, the side lines of the new car are smoother and the proportions are better.

In addition, the new car also has a new design on the fenders, using silver trim with BYD DESIGN, which is more stable.

The rear taillight still adopts a through-type design. Since the upper line is changed to a straight line, the car logo is placed under the taillight, and the big logo with the word BYD is used instead.

In the car, the interior of Seal DM-i is mature and dignified, and the latest four-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel is installed.

In terms of power, Seal DM-i is expected to be equipped with two sets of hybrid systems, 1.5L and 1.5T, which are matched with 145kW electric motors and 160kW electric motors respectively.

Finally, on the chassis, the new car is equipped with a more comfortable-oriented front MacPherson suspension, which is also in line with its positioning as a family and business car.

The naming of BYD’s new car Seal DM-i can be understood as compared with the naming of Destroyer 07, Seal is more well-known in the market, which can increase the market popularity of new cars. At the same time, it can also fill in the gap that SEAL only has EV models, and capture a larger user group, so that users do not have to worry about the power form and have more room for choice.
